Nine people have died in a 56-vehicle pile-up caused by heavy fog on a motorway in central China.
Motorists became trapped and had to be rescued by firefighters. Footage on Chinese state media showed damaged cars crushed under trucks.
Emergency services scrambled to douse a smashed-up lorry carrying hydrochloric in water, while 28 fire engines and 65 firefighters were dispatched to clear up the chaos.
